FDR's turn to Handle the Great Depression
The last 3 years of Hoover's term in office were extremely difficult. The Stock Market crash in the Fall of 1929 led to all kinds of economic problems for the country, and Hoover's responses to them did little to improve the situation. In 1932, Franklin Delano Roosevelt easily wins the Presidential Election over Hoover. This political cartoon represents outgoing President Hoover passing "Baby Depression" and all his problems on to FDR.
FDR's response to dealing with the Depression involved creating a bunch of different Federal Government agencies to get the economy back on track, creating jobs for the unemployed, and making sure that another Depression like this never occurred again. It's is best known as The New Deal, but critics began to label it an alphabet soup of government policies.
